Trusted by Authors and Leading Organisations Across Austraila

Working with Intertype was pleasant, they were understanding and considerate. They helped me understand the process and guaranteed that I would get a great product. It was fast once the process was complete.

Matthew Derbridge, Author: Age of the Immortal

Amazing, thank you and thank you for your prompt action today. My day went from feeling a bit overwhelming to so positive because of you and your team.

Tash Oldaker, Optim Leadership
Awesome job on the binders and slip case.
They are a superb product and thank you for your great service too.
I’ll be recommending this to our other clients also.
Tim Robinson, Spirit Graphics

No hassle, straight talking, deliver what they promise! Easy to deal with, very understanding of the clients needs and nice people to deal with. I will certainly use Intertype again with my next project!

In all my dealings with Intertype – starting with Jennifer who answers the phone, through to Lyndal in design and Ian Bosler at the helm – I have found them to be thoroughly professional, accommodating, efficient and honest, which is a rare thing to be found in business. The staff are able to juxtapose all the qualities we expect from a large organisation with all the pressures of deadlines, clients and couriers with the human qualities of warmth, understanding and a genuine desire to help you achieve your goals. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Pam Wood, Editor: Perhaps They’ll Listen Now

The folders arrived and they look incredible. Thankyou to you and the team; from the moment you took this project on, the communication, and service was incredible and the finished product far exceeded my expectations.

Nick Boyd, HPSA

Today we received the wall planners and they look fantastic – thank you!

Great service, fast and efficient.. and lovely people to deal with.

Neil Shultz, Schwab Consulting

Since contacting Intertype I have enjoyed thoughtful, helpful, prompt, and friendly service, as though I was dealing with family. This may sound
like I am being paid to write this, but I know, I was both pleased and surprised. For example Intertype suggested adding a couple of blank pages to reach the threshold thickness of a bound volume, releasing me from staples. This is service, attention to a minor order customer. The beauty and professionalism of my first POETRY book brought tears, some left on Ian’s answer service. Looking forward to future projects.

Darryl Pearce, Poet: Pearcemelville

I would like to extend my thanks to you and your team for the prompt and professional service offered to me recently.

You do a great job and the timeliness was fantastic – THANKYOU

Intertype delivered 12 copies of my book, “Top Secrets For Sales $uccess”, to me on short notice to support a consulting assignment in Seattle, 12,000km from home. Excellent service! Thanks Ian and team.

Ian Bosler and his team at Intertype understand business books and authors. Amazing support. Expert guidance and brilliant quality of products. Aussie made quality at competitive pricing – great stuff.

Intertype publish and print were patient and easy to work with. Thankyou for a wonderful experience for my first book.

Please excuse the tardiness in my reply, been a crazy week.  I just wanted to pass on my thanks to you both for arranging the monster cheque to be delivered in time for our photoshoot  on Wednesday, it is sincerely appreciated.

Brenda Hockaday, Moonee Valley Racing Club

Many thanks for the Retail Welcome Packs – they look great!

You have both been a pleasure to work with.

Melanie Metzer, Lendlease

Writing a book was an enjoyable but stressful experience until I was lucky and fortunate enough to find Intertype. Ian and his entire team were absolutely fabulous with my book writing journey.

I struggled to find a company that was understanding and encouraging however I was amazed that Intertype answered their phone and their emails either immediately or within a very short time! Their service is outstanding and I would highly recommend any author to put their trust in Intertype. I did, and I can honestly say that it’s one of the best decisions I have made…Thank you Intertype

Intertype are great! Requests are always responded to promptly with a quality product delivered on time.

Reanna Bono, VACCA
The binders look fantastic!!
Thank you so much for producing these so quickly and I am super impressed with the quality.
I will be in touch when ever my next custom project comes up.
Lisa Akkari , Hunter Douglas

The level of care and consideration from Ian, Lyndal and the team has been exceptional for our printing project – they have gone above and beyond to ensure our print was of the highest standards – educating us along the way to ensure we could continue to produce great design that translated into print. Intertype is not just a supplier – they are a printing partner, and I’m incredibly grateful to have them on the team. We look forward to many more print runs!

Dara Donnelly, Studio Evolution

Just to let you know that the books arrived in good order and discipline and to thank you for the fine workmanship. And please also thank Lyndal for me. The covers turned out really well. Dunno if you meant there to be an extra copy of each, but I ain’t complaining.

Nick Creech, Author: Annabella
As a graphic designer without extensive experience with designing for commercial printing, I was lucky enough to stumble on Intertype to assist me with artwork preparation review and training for a large project I was working on.
I was introduced to Lyndal who shared with me her wealth of knowledge and experience and was able to check my files and provide invaluable feedback on what needed updating in order to meet industry standards.
Without the help of Lyndal, I would have been completely in the dark and I cannot thank her enough for her patience, expertise and fantastic customer service throughout the process.
The few hours I spent working with Lyndal gave me a great insight and understanding of finished artwork preparation and I will no doubt be calling on her expertise again in the future.
It’s a fantastic service that I did not know even existed and highly useful for graphic designers to take advantage of to save unnecessary delays at print time.
Lisa Gercovich, Graphic Designer

We received the folders yesterday & the look fantastic. We are very happy with the quality & vibrancy of the print.

You guys have done a fabulous job!

Thanks so much,

Even though I had some interest in having my manuscript published, I was somewhat generally disappointed with the attitude of the companies that I dealt with. Their attitude was very profit driven and it was all about exploiting rather than adding value to the experience and the community.
Hence, I sought out Intertype as an alternative to taking my work to a possible next step.

I am extremely happy with the presentation of the final product. There are considerable punctuation mistakes, and some paragraphing/formatting issues, but these are my errors.

In the final analysis, I decided to have the document printed without any real editing: not even shallow editing, and now I regret this to an extent… you can’t fix things after the print.

So, I am generally extremely happy with the printing aspect of my work, I think it looks far better than I could have imagined. If I could have my time over again, I would spend a little more money to create a more polished product. If I could provide any suggestion to Ian / Intertype, it would possibly be to ‘encourage/urge’ authors to pay more attention to the final product beyond just printing.

Thanks to Ian, Alan, & all at Intertype

Chris Solomidis, Author: Are We There Yet?

The team at Intertype were incredible in accommodating my fast-approaching deadline, organising and executing my print job quickly without compromising the quality of the product. Couldn’t be happier with the work they did, would highly recommend them.

Ellen Stockwell, Strativity

As a first time book writer, having completed my draft Intertype were very professional in helping to get the book to a ready state for launch. They used their experience and skill, along with a high sense of professionalism to get the book to the market – I don’t know what I would have done to get through all those tricky steps without them.

I could not recommend them highly enough

Great design, speedy responses and amendments to design. Very fast turn around after proof was approved. The business cards arrived yesterday and look fantastic. Love the weight and waxy feel of the card. Thanks for the great work and speedy delivery!

Sara Yamabe, Miglic Macleod

Great experience from Ian and the team. Thank you for your above and beyond efforts for my deadline.

Michael Low, LSH Auto

Fantastic service, really helpful throughout the whole process of producing a publication. Could not recommend any higher!

Just received the folders.  They look FANTASTIC.  Thank you so much.

More importantly, the big bosses are happy too

Nikki McMahon , HACCP Australia

Intertype published two private books for us this year – a first for us – and the experience was entirely satisfactory. Quality of production exceeded expectations and drew many favourable comments from family and friends. Communication with the Intertype team was first rate and costs were surprisingly competitive. We have four more books in prospect and will direct them all to Intertype.

Robert Whitty, Author: Writing Home

How can self-publishing help me attract the attention of mainstream publishers?2023-05-06T06:11:01+10:00

Self-publishing is a great way to get noticed by mainstream publishers. By self-publishing, you can create an impressive portfolio of your work and demonstrate that there is an audience for your writing. This will provide evidence to potential publishers that there is a market for the book you are pitching which makes it easier for them to make a decision about working with you. Additionally, self-publishing allows you to gain valuable experience in marketing and distribution which can give you an advantage when negotiating with larger publishing houses. Furthermore, if your self-published book does well then this may be enough to attract the attention of major publishers who want authors who have already proven their ability to reach readers.

What are the benefits of self-publishing?2023-05-06T06:06:23+10:00

Self-publishing your book can provide a variety of benefits to authors, including increased control over the publication process, higher royalties, direct access to readers, and more. With Intertype’s support services and Books Online Australia bookstore, you will have the resources needed to take advantage of these benefits.

Intertype believes in giving authors complete control over the publishing process. Self-publishing enables you to make all creative decisions regarding how your book looks and reads without having to compromise with an outside publisher. Additionally, when self-publishing through Intertype and Books Online Australia bookstore, you can enjoy higher royalty rates than traditional publishers offer — often up to 70% for paperback books or 40% for ebooks sold. What file formats do you accept for printing?2023-02-04T15:27:06+11:00

The file format of your design is a critical aspect that can impact the final print quality. Different printing companies may have different preferences and requirements for file formats, but there are a few common formats that are widely accepted in the industry.

The most commonly used file format for commercial printing is Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). PDFs are versatile and can be opened on any device with a PDF reader. They also preserve the integrity of your design and ensure that your colours and fonts are accurate.

It’s important to note that file formats such as Microsoft Word (.doc) or Powerpoint (.ppt) are not recommended for commercial printing as they are not designed for high-quality printing and can result in low-resolution images and poor colour accuracy.

It’s always best to check with Intertype Publishing and Printing for specific file format requirements before submitting your commencing to create your artwork. By using the right file format, you can ensure that your final printed product meets your expectations and looks professional.

Traditional Vs Self-Publishing2023-02-04T15:27:31+11:00

Traditional publishing and self-publishing are two distinct methods of getting your book into the hands of readers. While both options have their advantages and disadvantages, understanding the key differences can help you determine the best path for your publishing journey.

  1. Control: In traditional publishing, authors surrender a significant amount of control over the editorial, design, and marketing aspects of their book to the publishing house. On the other hand, self-publishing offers authors complete control over every aspect of their book, from the content to the cover design.
  2. Time to publication: Traditional publishing can be a slow process, with months or even years between the time an author submits their work and the book is finally published. Self-publishing, on the other hand, allows authors to move quickly from writing to publication, often in a matter of weeks.
  3. Royalties and profits: Traditional publishing houses usually offer authors a smaller percentage of the profits from their book sales in exchange for their support in editing, design, and marketing. Self-publishing authors, on the other hand, typically earn a higher percentage of the profits, but they also bear the costs of editing, design, and marketing.

Ultimately, the choice between traditional publishing and self-publishing will depend on the individual author’s goals, resources, and preferences. Some authors may find the support and exposure offered by traditional publishers to be invaluable, while others may prefer the control and higher profits of self-publishing. By considering the key differences, authors can make an informed decision that is right for them.

Intertype Publishing and Printing isn’t a traditional publisher. We provide services to authors so that then can professionally self-publish their books, with global reach and without costing the Earth.

Benefits of Print On Demand2023-02-04T15:27:06+11:00

Print on demand (POD) is a printing technology that allows for the printing of individual copies of a book or product as they are ordered. This has several benefits for both the customer and the printing company. Firstly, POD reduces the risk of over-printing and unsold inventory, saving time, money, and storage space. Secondly, it allows for quick and efficient production and delivery of products, meeting the demands of customers in real time. Thirdly, POD also provides greater flexibility in terms of customization and product offerings, enabling printing companies to offer a wider range of products. Lastly, POD also reduces the environmental impact of printing by reducing waste and overproduction. Overall, POD offers a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution for printing that meets the needs of customers in a timely and efficient manner.

Intertype Publishing and Printing are Print On Demand specialists with over 18 years of experience.

Why Do I Need and ISBN?2023-02-04T15:27:31+11:00

An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is a unique identifier assigned to books and other print publications. The ISBN is a 10- or 13-digit number that serves as a unique identifier for each title and edition, allowing it to be easily tracked and managed within the book industry. It is used by booksellers, libraries, publishers, and other organizations to accurately identify and track books and manage their inventory. An ISBN is essential for any book that is intended for distribution and sale and is required by many traditional publishers as well as online bookstores. Obtaining an ISBN ensures that your book is easily searchable and distinguishable from other books, and helps increase its visibility and discoverability to potential readers.

At Intertype Publishing and Printing, we take great care in registering an ISBN for our authors as it needs to be done in the correct sequence and with appropriate keywords. Get this wrong and Google search will have trouble finding and displaying your book.

Is CMYK important?2023-02-04T15:27:06+11:00

Artwork files for commercial printing should be set up using the CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black) colour mode for several reasons. Firstly, CMYK is the industry standard for printing and is supported by most printers. Secondly, CMYK allows for accurate colour representation on printed materials, ensuring that the colours in your design match what you see on your screen. Thirdly, CMYK is a subtractive colour model, meaning it absorbs and subtracts light to produce colour, making it more suitable for printing as it allows for more control over the final printed colours. In contrast, the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) colour mode is an additive colour model that produces colour by adding light and is better suited for electronic displays such as computer monitors and televisions. Using CMYK ensures that your artwork files are optimized for printing and that the final printed product meets your expectations.

Intertype Publishing and Printing uses state-of-the-art digital printing technology. The platforms are all capable of printing RGB colour values however colour accuracy and repeatability will be seriously compromised. Stick with CMYK for the best results.

Why Is Print Quantity Important?2023-02-04T15:27:06+11:00

The quantity of prints ordered directly affects the per-unit price of printing. This is because printing companies often offer bulk discounts to incentivize larger print runs. The larger the print run, the lower the per unit price because the fixed costs of preparing the press, setting up the job, and materials are spread out over a larger number of units. This results in a lower cost per unit, making it more economical for the customer to order larger quantities. Additionally, printing companies can produce a larger quantity of prints more efficiently, reducing the overall production time and costs. So, if you are looking for a more cost-effective solution for your printing needs, consider ordering in bulk.

Intertype Publishing and Printing’s digital print platform makes small quantities more affordable than traditional offset printing platforms. This lends itself to utilising Print On DEmand (POD)

What Is Pre-Flight Checking?2023-02-04T15:27:06+11:00

At Intertype Publishing and Printing we believe that pre-flight checking of printing artwork files is a crucial step in the printing process that helps ensure that the final printed product meets the desired quality and specifications. Pre-flight checking verifies that the artwork files meet the technical requirements of the printing press and are ready for production. It checks for issues such as resolution, colour mode, font and image embedding, bleed, and file format compatibility. By catching these issues before printing, pre-flight checking reduces the risk of costly mistakes and reprints, saves time and resources, and ensures a high-quality final product. Therefore, pre-flight checking is an essential part of the printing process that should never be skipped or overlooked to ensure the best possible outcome for your printing project.
